About Devoter.com

Devoter.com is a community weblog covering all matters of politics. The collaborative weblog format is best represented by the website known as MetaFilter, which this site essentially attempts to clone and owes it's humble beginnings. Users register with Devoter.com, and then have the opportunity to post interesting entries to the weblog, which are open for commenting by the other site members. This can result in everything from very interesting web links and discussion, to flame wars spiraling out of control into the inevitable Godwin's Law.

Posting Guidelines

New members are required to register with a valid email address in order to post links/entries or comment to the site. Your email address will never be shared with a third party -- it's main purpose is to confirm your identity for registration. Spamming, comment spamming, affiliate linking, advertising, viral "street team" marketing, needless axe-grinding, trolling, or any other type of abusive behavior will not be tolerated. Such behavior will result in thread deletion, loss of posting privileges and/or banning from the site. Passionate and interesting discussion from moderate, liberal and conservative viewpoints are welcomed. Name-calling personal flame wars and trolling are not. All posts/comments are subject to moderation, editing and/or deletion by the site administrator.

How do you make interesting posts? More of an art than a science, community weblog postings try to strike a balance between simple site linking to painting the context of a link's value in a concise sentence or two. In other words, a good weblog entry strives to be interesting, reasonably unique and worth discussing. Simply posting a question or thought without linking elsewhere belongs in a message forum, not as a front page weblog link post.

Front page postings should be no more than a short paragraph (a few sentences) -- extended text or further information should be included "inside" the entry as the first comment. Community weblog entries should not be used for posting press releases, advertising, self-linking, or as a message forum.
